Fillmore Street, between Bush and Pine, in San Francisco's Pacific Heights. After the scene has loaded, navigate your way up and down the block by clicking, holding, and dragging your mouse in the direction you want to go. Turn right or left, go forward or backward -- a fully immersive experience, just like walking down a real street. Some of the storefronts are interactive: you can "enter" a store by clicking on it and jumping to the store's own Web page; or, in some cases, seeing a photograph of its interior. To return to the 3D streetscape from one of these Web sites or interior pictures, simply close the new browser window. And if you find a pink box on the sidewalk, click on it for a secret message. Note: Because this is a memory-intensive applet, the textures may not all load properly on computers with less than 50mb of available RAM, or on systems using older version of Netscape. |
